WHEN EARTH JOINED THE RANKS OF SCIENCE FICTION WORLDS
Five hundred years ago...
Before the names Vander or Arian became tangled with the fate of many, a mysterious object fell to Earth in a streak of fire. A lone boy, whose name has been long forgotten, discovered the Seed in a massive crater after trailing what he believed to be a shooting star. When he touched the Seed, his skin, eyes, and hair lost all color, a precursor to what terrors would soon visit Earth.

The otherworldly radiation from the Eon Seed...
Shortly after discovering the Seed, the unknown boy became obsessed with it, as if posessed by it. He grew to manhood designing and developing technology to use the Energy it constantly released. It became what appeared to be the perfect energy solution; perpetual, and with no waste product. No one expected their greatest resource to become their greatest danger. Just as the boy, everything touched by the Seed was instantly corrupted by its inconceivable power, altered into something else. Living things became monstrosities- things with no right to life began to breathe. It is for this reason that the boy developed a way to divide Eon Energy into one of ten, more manageable subtypes. When things seemed perfect again, all of the same issues resurfaced, just at a slower rate, and somewhat controllable with heavy medication. Even in its diluted form, the Energy still posed a significant threat. By the time anyone realized the cause of the problem, the world was dependent on Eon Energy,

The force emitting from the Eon Seed and any vector of its power is pure Energy in the same capacity that the heat in our brains represents our minds at work, a life force in itself. Each pulse from the Seed is a wayward spirit in search of a vessel, capable of turning science fiction to fact and fantasy to reality. Hence the danger of Eon Energy exposure; once the Energy enters the body, human or animal, that body now houses two conscious entities. Both of them want control. When the intellect and will of an Eon consciousness overcomes that of its host, the body is forfeit, and often undergoes drastic disfigurement. This is when a person is considered "feral", an aggressive contortion with a slew of unusual and incredible abilities . Ferals vary in size and appearance depending on what kind of person or animal it once was, but all share a single characteristic: piercing, hateful, golden eyes.
SUBTYPES OF EON ENERGY

Technology was designed by those who sought to use the Seed to divide and refine its power into one of ten subtypes at Eon Plants. While less dangerous than handling the Origin Eon Energy, which comes directly from the Seed, exposure to any one of these subtypes is usually fatal, eventually. Most who come into contact with an Eon Energy subtype become what are known as Midlings, gaining fantastic abilities in exchange for sickness, physical alteration, and the gradual loss of their control. The table below shows the ten Eon Energy subtypes.
