EP 3: Antagonists

What are they? Baseless jerks to bar your protagonist from their endgame? Jet fuel to propel others' growth at the sacrifice of their own character? Not if I can help it! Antagonists can be so much more, if you just remember one simple thing. Everyone is the main character of their own story. Even the Evil Lord Dingdongus.

GET OUT

My premier skoolie travel video. This one chronicles not only Katie and my fist week living on the road in our skoolie, but the importance of getting out as a writer. What better way to build a world than to get out in the one we have now?

Recipe 3: Antagonists

We're at it again with another great character recipe. This time we're tackling the "bad guy". But don't ever let me hear you call your antagonist that! This is a dish that offers a complex marriage of bitter and sweet flavors. A great addition to your writing recipe repertoire!

The Writer's Jumpstart Kit | Mindset

The first video in this series is all about a writer's mindset. These five simple tips will help you get you ready for the mental hurdles of pursuing writing as a career.

How Did I Get Here?

Get to know the Roadside Writer in this brutally honest retelling of my journey as a writer. Penelope Skoolie Tour | Part I

Take a closer look inside our peculiar living situation. We built our dream home on wheels from the ground up, so we could go anywhere and do anything. Whether you're looking for inspiration or help with your own school bus conversion, or just curious, this video shows it all. Well, almost! There was so much to tell, I had to break the tour into two videos. Part I covers the exterior of the bus and the cockpit. Check Part II for the rest of the inside!

3 Writing Crimes: Short Stories

What could be harder than creating an entire fictional world, complete with complex characters, conflict, and emotion? Doing all that in 20.000 words or less. Welcome to the gauntlet of the short story. This video is dedicated to horriblehistoriesmemes for suggesting the idea and connecting me with gsce students in England who need to write short stories for their exams!

EP 4: Supporting Characters

Aren't they basically fodder, or background noise? EHHHH! Supporting characters are your chance to show off all the color of your literary palate! As I say in this video, if your protagonist is the skull of your story and the antagonist is the ass, the supporting characters (and world) make up everything in between. You need them all to make a great story. Here's a video (worksheet included in the description on YouTube) with three interactive activities to help you craft supporting character th
